Yes, it's midterm election season again, finally (and hopefully not finally finally). The airwaves are awash with candidates declaring what fine, level-headed, family-loving fellows they are, while also declaring their opponents, and the parties they're associated with, are Satan-sent hell-spawn bent on destroying all that is good and right in America, and your town specifically. Of course, there's no by-law requirement for any truth in any of that advertising, but it's tradition at this point, and, if that were all that was going on, it would hardly be noteworthy.
Of course, that's not the world we live in right now. One team is competing fairly (as in within the bounds of the rules, as far as any large organization can at least), while the other, rightly fearing defeat, is resorting to chicanery. For a few examples: in TN, we have reports of voting machines flipping votes to the GOP candidate; in CA, we have the Department of Justice using a list of supposed non-citizens of questionable quality to try and shape what votes get counted; and in AK, that same DoJ has filed a lawsuit to try and prevent an election from being certified, but only if their guy loses. All in all, it's not as bad as it could be, but it's certainly not good. Here's hoping none of their shenanigans bear fruit for them.
On the gaming side of things, I've leaned pretty heavily into No Man's Sky as of late. I finished the "Our Journey Continues" expedition, which clued me into a few things I had no idea about (like, for example, the presence of a fourth alien race), and gave me an S-class fighter to bring back into my main game. I'm just about done with my second "main quest" line, we'll see how long I stay stuck-in after that.
